CNN said that the 7th Calvary "encountered a large Iraqi ground force, but a sandstorm in the region prevented troops from calling in air cover." They stated that the Iraqi casualties were between 150 and 200 and it was a "massive battle".
Fox News reported "between 150 and 500 Iraqi troops" were killed in a "fierce fight". However, they appeared more concerned at reports of no U.S. casualties. They stated that the U.S. could see more such diversions in the future.
Sister network Sky News reported "up to 750 Iraqi soldiers" were killed. A reporter was based near the scene and described the collapse of a bridge moments after the 7th Calvary travelled over it.
Viacom's CBS News reported of no battle, instead paying attention to other events in Iraq.
Disney's ABC News used an embedded reporter to provide information about the day's developments.
MSNBC used an embedded Newsweek reporter to report on the situation. They reported that between 150 and 300 troops had died.
