British rock vocalist Robert Plant was born in Birmingham, England, where he performed with a number of groups as a teenager before joining Led Zeppelin in 1968. Plant developed an interest in the occult, which gave Led Zeppelin some of its most memorable lyrical imagery.
Robert Plant launched a solo career with 1982's Pictures at Eleven, which quickly went gold based on Led Zeppelin's enduring popularity. Plant established himself as an artist in his own right with 1983's The Principle of Moments, which went platinum thanks to the Top 20 single "Big Log" and guest drumming by Phil Collins.
In 1994 Robert Plant and Jimmy Page reunited for an incredibly hyped MTV Unplugged session. Performing old Led Zeppelin tunes as well as a few new world-music-influenced compositions, the pair impressed audiences with their uncompromising set. Atlantic Records released the collaboration, No Quarter: Jimmy Page and Robert Plant Unledded, in 1994.
